It's Saturday morning and at the moment, it's pretty quiet around here. Ashley is at work, Cora is in for her nap and Mark is checking out Craig's List on his computer. Hmmm, I wonder what he's looking for?
Yesterday we had a snowstorm. The end result was about...I don't know, maybe 8 or so inches, give or take a couple. Anyway, since it snowed all day long, it would have been pointless to go out and shovel, so last night after supper, Mark went out to clear things up with the snowblower and Ashley took Cora outside to play. This was actually Cora's first time playing in the snow since up to now she didn't have any snow boots. She had a blast and protested quite a bit when it was time to come in. Her main priority was trying to eat as much snow as she could, lol. Mark got a lot of the snow cleared up last night, but we had more during the night so he has to go back out this morning and clean up again.
Something amusing about my neighborhood. I live on a circle with nine houses. It's like a mini retirement community. Six houses out of the nine are retired people. Seven of the houses are grandparents. Even though Mark and I are one of those sets of grandparents, we are still one of the youngest couples on the street. Thank God for the new people who just moved in across the street from me. They're a newly married couple expecting their first baby soon. Yay, young people, LOL. Well, when it snows, all these retired men come out of their houses, all decked out in their boots, gloves, hats and...hold on to your seat, there's even a plaid flannel jacket amongst them, LOL. They make their rows after row of perfectly straight lines with their snowblowers, even going so far as to head out to the street to clear a little extra. Then there's the couple who don't have a snowblower. This man is confined to a wheelchair so the race is on. Who will be the first to clear out their driveway? It's so predictable and so funny at the same time. And if you think winter is funny, you should see them in the summer time when it come to cutting their lawns. I love my neighbors and wouldn't trade any of them. In times of trouble or need, there's not one that wouldn't be there for you.
So today after Ashley gets out of work, I think Mark and I are going to head over to Erika's house to see how things are going. I know she's excited to show us the dining room now that it's set up. It's Marks mother's old dining table and buffet and we're happy it will be kept in the family and lovingly used. Tonight we have Trevor overnight since we haven't had him to ourselves in a long time. I'm not sure yet if we'll stay at home with him, or if we'll take him out somewhere. Let's see how pooped out I'll be by the end of the day.
That's it for now. This post was totally for no reason at all but just thought I'd tell you all what was going on for today.
