The Persson Post: July 2008

Well folks, Krista is quickly approaching her C-Section date which is August 8th. In her opinion, it just can't come fast enough.

Although she was hoping that if she went into labor on her own before that date, she could deliver naturally, that option has now been ruled out. According to her ultrasound of this past Monday, Krista's baby is measuring in at 9 pounds and 5 ounces. According to ultrasound measurements, there is a 1 pound, give or take window. So the least the baby could weigh at this point is, 8.5 lbs, and the most it could weigh is 10.5 lbs. YIKES. So, you might ask, "why don't they just do the C-section earlier if the baby is so big?" Good question, we all asked it too. Because Krista is not officially at her due date, they will not selectively take the baby before that day. So, here's the deal. If she goes into labor they'll do the C-section right away. If not, the baby still has another 2.5 weeks of growing to do. That means, with a growth rate of a half a pound a week, this baby could quite possibly be TWELVE lbs. My guess??? Well, knowing that ultrasounds are not always right, I'm going to say that the baby will be somewhere in the 10 pound range.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted and let you know if there are any changes or if the baby decides he/she wants out before August 8th,

Hi family and friends,

I can't believe it is mid July already, where on earth are the months going? I waited patiently...okay maybe not so patiently, for winter to end, I couldn't wait for hot summer days of sunshine and barbeque's and it already seems likes it's halfway gone. I sure wish we had as many warm months as we do cold.

Anyway, so far this summer has been a pretty good one. It's been filled with family and babies and pregnancies, all right up my alley. In the days that I was having my babies, I LOVED being pregnant. I loved feeling my babies move and reading as much as I could about everything that was happening inside me. Oh if only I had had the Internet back then, I would have been in my glory. How lucky the women of today are, with a wealth of information right at their fingertips. Even I find myself at the pregnancy websites and baby blogs. I guess you could say I am living vicariously through my daughters. I love that Krista will let me touch and poke and prod as much as I want at her stomach. It's so much fun to see the baby rolling and kicking and poking an elbow or a knee out here and there. And just when all is said and done with baby Sullivan, it will be Erika's turn to say, "mom, quick, put your hand right here" and I'll get to do it all over again. I'm really enjoying my daughter's pregnancies, LOL.

So, the 4th of July was pretty fun. We had a big family cookout during the day and in the evening we all sat around our little firepit, toasted marshmallows and had some good laughs. Saturday we went to our neighbor's big annual 4th of July cookout, except it was on the 5th, lol. It was nice to see some of the neighbor's kids that have grown up, gotten married and now have kids of their own. Later that evening we went to the "famous" fireworks here in our town. They were'nt that great this year but it didn't really matter to me, I mostly just kept my eyes on Cora and Trevor, I couldn't wait to see their reactions to the fireworks. Both of them seemed to really like them but Cora was a little scared and had to sit with mommy. Trevor danced at the end when the music started for the finale. He was so cute. On that Sunday we just hung around the house and did nothing. It was sunny, hot and nice and it was so great just to hang out and relax.
