Organized Chaos

Well we had a very physical and tiring weekend, helping Erika and Scott move into their new house. I woke up this morning feeling so stiff, I could barely lean over the bathroom sink to brush my teeth. Anyway, enough about me and more about the move.

On Friday afternoon they passed papers, by Friday night they were ripping out all the old wall to wall carpeting, (I don't know why, it was such a beautiful teal blue/green, NOT) and preparing the subfloor for the new hardwood floor. Saturday, Steve and Scott laid hardwood all day, while the girls painted primer in the bedrooms and took care of cleanup. Later in the day, Erika and I went back to her old apartment to pack up a few more things and to, well, to be honest with you, I can't even remember what we did the rest of the day, LOL. By Sunday evening, my two son in-laws, who I am so proud of, had laid hardwood flooring in the living room, dining room and down the hallway to the bedrooms. Now that the table saw was out of the kitchen, we started work in there. Krista, Ashley and a friend started scraping wallpaper while I washed out the cabinets and began filling them with groceries and kitchen things. At this point, all their furniture and packed boxes are being stored in the basement so that the upstairs can be worked on. It was a long productive weekend but the effort we're all putting in to help out Scott and Erika will certainly pay off in the long run.

I'll let you know later how the progress is going.

Take care,

  1. Thanks for not mentioning how I personally loaded our van, our car, Ashley's car, Scott and Erika's truck and their friend, Karen's car all by myself. Oh, and also I went out to get more boxes, as well as coffee and sandwiches. Then I helped to unload the stuff when we got to their house. All kidding aside, we all pitched in and the guys really and truly did an awesome job on the floors.
